Mercor is seeking STEM PhDs (candidates currently pursuing or already degree-holding) to help one of the world's top AI labs improve their models’ scientific reasoning and aptitude with specific STEM domains. This role pays between $60-90/hour.

In this role, you will contribute your subject matter expertise to create high-quality written material on difficult problems in your domain. This expert-driven human data is critical to AI getting smarter and more helpful in your domain. Our clients are incredibly eager to partner with domain experts and afford them enormous control in directing what and how these models learn the frontier of these STEM disciplines. This opportunity affords PhDs prestigious experience influencing the future of their disciplines in a highly unique, differentiated manner.

You're a good fit if you:

• Hold or are currently pursuing a PhD from a top US university or research institute in a STEM domain, such Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Engineering (Computer Science/Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical), Math, etc.
• Have high attention to detail
• Have exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Here are more details about the role:

• You will interface directly with prominent AI researchers, eager to use your expertise to improve their models, in a private Slack channel
• The role is ongoing starting in March and continuing with rolling applications.
• The project is generally 10-20 hours of work per week with potential to be extended to 40 hours per week
• The work is fully remote and asynchronous , maximally flexible to your schedule
• This project is scoped to last a minimum of 1-2 months

With respect to pay and legal status:

• You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor
• We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect

Screening Process:

• After pressing apply, you will be directed to a 5-10 minute interview with an AI that will have processed your résumé and ask expert-tailored questions. We will pay for up to 1 hour of onboarding time, including this and a few onboarding videos, if you are hired.
