Role Overview: Mercor is seeking Masters & PhD computer scientists to work on a long-term research project with a leading AI lab to benchmark and improve AI systems on computer science research and analysis tasks. You will contribute to a first of it’s kind public benchmark assessing frontier agentic model capabilities.
Qualifications:
Hold a Master’s or PhD from a distinguished program in Computer Science or a closely related sub-domain (e.g., algorithms, computational complexity, formal methods, automata theory, machine learning theory, programming languages, or logic in computer science)
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in interpreting theoretical results, analyzing algorithmic behavior, and drawing sound formal conclusions
Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and strong written communication skills, especially in technical or academic writing
About the role:
The role is remote and asynchronous, i.e., you can primarily work on your own schedule
You can work part-time (most team members contribute ~15-25 hours per week)
This position is structured with clear expectations, but is not a high-pressure environment
The project is anticipated to last several months, though you are not obligated to work the full project term
